Security & Connectivity Tips

Tip # 01 :  Secure All Folders / Memory Card by a single Password

(Web Published Date :  October 31, 2006)

You can lock all phone's folders and Memory card by a single password.  To do it, on your X700, Go to Menu/ Settings/ Security/ Privacy.

Now, you can see all folders like: Messages, Images, Videos, Music, Sounds, Other Files, Memory Card. Put Check on the name of folder that you want to be password protected by select that folder and press i/ok  center key.... or select All option for all folders.... Click Save.

Now enter password which is eight digit 00000000 password by default!. You have successfully locked folders of your choice.... My advise is that you must change the default password to any 4 to 8 digit password (which you can easily remember) as soon as possible because every one knows it.... To change the default password, go to Menu/ Settings/ Security/ Change Password. Now, enter default password 00000000 and press OK. Then enter your new password (of your choice) and press OK and again enter this new password to confirm this .... and press OK. The message will appear that password changed.

To unlock the folders, just remove the check from folders ( in privacy menu) and click save.... now you must enter your new password .... if matched, then privacy will be deactivated for that folder....
Note: If you have locked Images folder then Photos/ Downloaded Images/ Favourite Images folders are also locked ..

Tip # 02 :  File Transfer between X700 & Other Mobile with BLUETOOTH

( Web Published Date : September 04, 2006 )

Samsung X700 is fully compatible with bluetooth devices like mobile phones, bluetooth dongle for PC, bluetooth headphones for A2DP profile, bluetooth printers etc.... Many users have successfully transferred files between X700 and other mobiles like Nokia 6230i, 6600, 6630, 6233, 3230, 3250, N70, SE K700i, K750i, Samsung D500, D600, D900, and many more....

Personally, I am transferring images/ videos/ mp3/ mp4 files to /from X700 and SE K700i / Nokia 6600 / Samsung D600 for last 8 months and there is NO need to enter any kind of security code on X700 or other mobile.

Please strictly follow the procedure given below for file transfer through bluetooth:

1. Turn ON bluetooth of K700i and X700.

2. Turn both phone's visibility: ON.

3. Keep secure mode: OFF.

4. Now, select file to transfer on X700. Go to Options/ Send via Bluetooth.... then click Send.

5. Immediately, you will see My New Devices dialogue box on X700 and after few seconds, you will see the name of other mobile on X700 .i.e K700i. Then wait for few seconds until you can select K700i option on X700.

6. Now on X700, you will see connecting..... then sending abc file....0%.

7. On K700i, you will see incoming item....file size: x KB....free memory: y KB.... Continue? .....immediately select Yes option. The bar starting with receiving item on K700i.

Please note that this is 100% working procedure. To receive files on X700, just reverse the above procedure and after file transfer, turn bluetooth OFF of both the sets....

Tip # 03 :  File Transfer between X700 & PC with BLUETOOTH

You can easily transfer files between Samsung X700 and PC using a bluetooth dongle. I am using Billionton Bluetooth USB Adapter (class1 upto 100m range)....It is available in the market @ 400 rupees only and fully compatible with Samsung X700.... The bluetooth connection is fast as compared to samsung PC studio. This is the complete  procedure to transfer files between Samsung X700 and PC through bluetooth:

Connect X700 with PC through Bluetooth

This is in pdf format made by myself.

Tip # 04 :  Transfer files through BLUETOOTH directly into Memory Card

(Web published date : December 05 , 2007)

As you know that by default, all files transfers through bluetooth directly into phone's internal memory ( Exception is Windows based "BlueSoleil" software which allow you to save files into  memory card from PC. For more info, read page # 08 of this pdf guide "
Connect X700 with PC through Bluetooth" )
You will need to transfer files manually into memory card but you can directly transfer files into memory card through bluetooth by using this tip below:

Use available free memory space of your phone so that only few hundred KB space is free. Now try to send any file through bluetooth whose file size is larger than free available internal memory of your phone. Automatically Samsung X700 will display this pop-up message:

"Phone memory Full. Save to Memory Card?  Yes or No."

Select "Yes" option. This will save file directly into memory card. All files will be saved into memory card's main directory.  Suppose, If your phone's internal free memory is 3 MB and you are transferring 4MB sized file then you will see above pop-up message.

N.B : This TIP works with all Samsung mobiles with memory card & bluetooth support. I have checked this on X700/ D600/ E250 mobiles and it worked.
