Do
you know that your
Samsung X700 can show you SIM / phone contacts separately (not
together)?
To show all contact numbers of SIM and phone's memory
separately: Select
Menu/Phonebook/Management/Memory
Status...
To show only SIM contacts, select SIM option ...
This will only show contact numbers present on SIM's memory...
To show only Phone contacts, select Phone option
... This will only show contact numbers present on phone's memory...
This will resolve your duplicating contacts problem....
Tip # 02 :
Copy Contacts into SIM / Phone / PC
To
copy contact from phone memory to SIM card , on
your X700, select Contacts in standby mode.....
this will load the phone book....
select any contact name and click Options/View....
then select
mobile number of this selected entry.... click Options
.... then select option no. 3 ....Copy
to .... SIM and click Save .
New message will appear that Copy Completed ....
That's it.... You have successfully copied a "contact Entry"
from Phone to SIM memory!
To copy contact from SIM card to phone memory, again select Contacts
in standby mode.... Select any person's name which is saved in SIM
card.... Click
Options/View.... Again click
Options....
then select option no. 3 .... Copy to .... Phone
.... You can see these options:
Mobile, Home, Office, Fax, Other
Select Mobile .... Then click Options....
Save. New message will appear that Copy
Completed.
To copy ALL Contacts from SIM card to phone memory, Go to
Menu/Phonebook/Management/Copy All To Phone.... A pop-up
message will appear that "Sure to copy all?"....
Select Yes Option.... This will copy complete
phonebook into phone's memory....
To copy complete phonebook to your PC, Open Samsung
PC Studio 3
and check that you can see "SGH--X700 Connected"
message and click Manage
Contacts and more.... Phone book will be loaded in phone
editor.... But if phonebook is not loaded, then click ME or
SIM option of phone book on upper left corner of screen....
This will load the complete phonebook.... Now, press Ctrl + A
keys from keyboard which will select all contacts .... Now, right click
from mouse and select Copy option.... Now, select PC
option in upper left corner of screen under phonebook tag and right
click from mouse and select Paste option.... this
will copy complete phonebook into PC section of software in about 2 / 3
seconds ....
Now, Click File Menu and click Export....select
type of output as
Windows Address Book....and
click Next.
Then save as box appears.... just enter any name of
this file and click OK. The complete phone book is
saved on your PC as wab file (Windows Address
Book).... Whenever you need this to read the contacts on PC, just click
to open this wab file.... This will show all contacts with full details
without using samsung software....
Tip # 03 :
Save Address book of your Email
account into X700's
phone book
Yes,
it's amazing! You can
transfer complete address book of your email account into X700 's
existing phone book....
First of all, from your PC, sign-in to your email
account ( i.e; Yahoo account ).... Go to Addresses....
Import/Export. Now, in the "Export"
section, click "yahoo csv Export Now" button. A "File
download"
message will appear. Click "Save" button. Your
complete address book has been saved as "csv" file
on your PC successfully.
By default, this file name is "yahoo_ab.csv." Right
click on file and select "Open with.... Choose program....
Browse.... Outlook Express.... Wabmig" and press "OK"
button. Now, select "Text File (comma separated values)"
and press "Import." A "csv import"
dialogue box will appear. Select file to import using browse button
(select your csv file) and press "Next" button.
Now select the fields to import. i.e ; click field "first".
A "change mapping" dialogue box will appear. Select
"First Name" and keep check
on "import
this field" check box and press "OK"....
Similarly, select middle name, last name, nick name, email
address, mobile numbers
and so on. Now, press "Finish" button. This will complete
the import process.
Now open the address book by selecting Start
Menu/Accessories/Address Book .... and go to "File
menu/Export/Address book (wab)".... A "Save As"
dialogue box will appear. Enter any name and click "Save" button.
Your new address book (wab file) has been saved on
your PC.
Start "Samsung PC Studio 3 " software and check
that you can see "SGH--X700 Connected" message.
Select "Manage Contacts and more" and go to
"File menu/Import." Now select "Windows address
book (wab)" and press
"Next" button. This will
load the address book into "PC"
section of phone book. Now, go to "PC" section of
phone book and select all by pressing "ctrl + A"
keys. Right click and select "Copy", then go to "ME"
section of phone book and right click on any contact and select
"Paste" option. This will
copy the phone book items
to "ME". So, the complete address book of your
email account has been successfully saved into your X700's phone book.
Similarly, you can transfer address book of your other email account as
well by above method....
Tip # 04 :
Copy ALL Contacts from Phone to SIM at
once
This
is true that you cannot
copy all contacts from phone to SIM memory at once without using your
PC. You can only do
this one by one. But you can copy all contacts from phone to SIM by
using
Samsung PC Studio 3 software....
Connect X700 with PC through USB data cable and open Samsung
PC Studio 3
software.... Make sure that you can see "SGH-X700 Connected"
message.... Now, go to "Manage Contacts and More"
.... This will open the "Phone Editor" and contacts
will be loaded from SIM memory ( if there are some contacts present in
SIM memory).... Now, select "ME" option in upper
left corner of screen under phonebook tag....
This will load the complete phonebook from phone's memory....
To copy all contacts, press "Ctrl + A" keys from
keyboard which will select all contacts .... Now, right click from
mouse and select "Copy"
option.... Now, select "SIM" option in upper left
corner of screen under phonebook tag and right click from mouse and
select "Paste" option.... this will copy complete
phonebook into SIM in about 4 / 5 seconds ....
If you have some contacts already in SIM memory, then keep pressing "Ctrl"
key from keyboard and individually
select each and every
entry using mouse and then use copy & paste
option....
Tip # 05 :
Group feature of phonebook
You
can include any contact
entry to any kind of group.... Go to Menu/Phonebook/Group....
These are "Family , Office , Friends , Not Assigned"
.... i.e ; Select
"Friends" and press "i/ok" center key
..... Select "Add" option.... Now, select any
contact entry . This will saved this entry into
"Friends" group.... You can add as many entries as you
like....
You can add your own group by selecting
"Menu/Phonebook/Group/Options/Add".
Now, enter your new group name .... then select "Options....
Save".
You can edit any group name and also you can assign
any kind of photo / ringtone / mp3 /
mp4 audio file to any
group.... Select any group and select "Options....Edit".
Also you can delete any group any time.
Tip
# 06 : Add contact number of new caller into your Phone Book
If
you have received a phone call from a person whose contact number is
not present in your phonebook
then this tip is for you. To add his / her contact number into your
phone book, follow this :
In
standby mode, press GREEN dial key. You will see contact numbers under Recent Contacts or Missed Calls or Dialled Calls or Received Calls. Now,
select the desired number and go to "Options/Save
as contacts". Then select "Phone or SIM". If
you have selected Phone
option then you will see these options under Type :
Mobile,
Home, Office, Fax, Other
Just
select the type like Mobile
and a new screen of "Add
new contact" will appear. Just enter his / her name and
select "Options/Save".
This will save contact number into your phone book.
Note1
:If your mobile doesn't ask you to "save to
phone or SIM"
and directly saves into phone or SIM then go to Menu /
Phonebook / Management / Default Saving" and select "Ask on
saving"
option. If you don't want this option and simply want to save your
contacts on phone memory or SIM then select Phone or SIM
options. Then you will not be asked about where to save new contacts
and your mobile will automatically save contacts into your selected
memory space.
Note2
:You can access phone call
records by
going to Menu/Call
Records.
Now these options are available like Recent
Contacts,Missed Calls,Dialled Calls,Received Calls, Delete All, Call Time, Call Costs.
