The PC suite for the SGH X700 does not have the pixel image 176*220 in the create ur wallpaper section. Can u help me this regard. Also pl advice me where I can get a small freeware where in I can reduce the pixel size of a still or animation pics to 176*220.  Awaiting ur reply on the same.

A22 :    Hi Uday! The Samsung PC Studio 3.0  has image editor and you can adjust image size to 176 x 220 pixels. Just connect your mobile with PC through USB cable and open PC Studio software. You will see "SGH-X700 Connected" message. Go to "Manage Photos" section. This will load image editor. Now, if image is on phone's memory, then select "Import from.... Phone" option which is present on upper right corner of screen. You will see "Import from phone" dialogue box. Select "SGH-X700" option present on left side.

Now, you will see all folders of your mobile like " Images, Videos, Sounds, Music, Other files" . Select "Images" folder then "Photos" folder. You can see all mega pixel pics that you have taken with your X700. Select any one  and press "Import" button. This will transfer the image to PC section . Now, enter album name or just select OK button.  You will see your desired image. Double click on this image and you will see this image on bigger size. On right side, there are some options like "Red eye, Brightness/ contrast, Saturation, Filter, Image Size, Crop". Just select "Image size" option.

Now, select "Enter directly" option and enter "Width:176 and Height:220". Remove check from "Constrain Proportions" and press OK . Your new image has been resized.  Transfer this new image into your phone by pressing "To phone" button. Give any name to this image and press OK. You will see "Search Folder" screen. Now, select folder like "Images" then "downloaded images" folder and press OK. This will save new image into "downloaded images" folder.

Note: The above tip is for Samsung PC Studio Version 3.0

You can resize images with the help of "irfan view" freeware software. Go to IRFAN VIEW from your PC and download this freeware software and install it on your PC.

Q23 :   Hi Usman. My name is Tommy from Indonesia. I have found your website really useful especially the tips and FAQ. Glad if you can solve my problem. I just bought 2 Toshiba 1 GB MicroSD. Since it's pretty complicated transfer mp3 files to MicroSD (using Samsung PC Studio 3.1 to transfer 6 mp3 files from PC to X-700 internal memory, and then move them to microSD).
I used a card reader (Card Reader All-in-1 USB 2.0 "My Logic") recently bought 2 days ago, since this card reader doesn't have microSD slot, I used the MicroSD adapter provided by Toshiba. The process runs very fast, since this card reader is USB 2.0 compatible. I manage to copy 214 MB of mp3 (just by click and drag). After the process, I uplugged the microSD and insert to my X-700.
Somehow, there's no External memory icon shows on top of the right corner of the main screen. I check Menu-> File Manager. There's no option for Memory card as well. I tried to turn off the phone, unplugged and replugged the memory card, turn it on again. Still, can't detect the MicroSD. I switch my MicroSD to my friend's phone (he use Nokia N95). I used his MicroSD in my X-700, and manage to detect his MicroSD. So does he, he used my MicroSD in his N95, and can play all of my mp3 files.
I reformat to FAT or FAT32 and retransfer the mp3 files. Nothing works. I try to used the other Toshiba MicroSD, since I bought 2. This one is still empty. Somehow, it can be detect from my X-700. I still don't know what to do next. I was wondering if you can help me to solve this problem. Since I'm a music lover, I need your assistance badly. Waiting for your reply.
When playing mp3 files, the speaker sound quality is awesome. Thanks to X-700 stereo speaker.

Thanks in advance.

A23 :  I don’t know the compatibility of Toshiba cards with Samsung X700. If your empty Toshiba card is still undetectable then try “sanDisk” cards. These are fully compatible with X700. Many users are using 1GB sanDisk cards on their X700 without any problem.
You said, your X700 can detect your friend’s microSD card. What is the brand name of your friend’s microSD card?
There is no need to use card reader. If memory card is detected by your mobile then try this method to directly transfer files between PC and memory card through USB cable:
Go to menu/ settings/ phone settings/ USB settings…. Select mass storage option and press "save" soft key. and immediately you will see a new removable disk in my computer. Just copy/paste files to PC or from PC to X700's memory card.

For full detailed demonstration of this procedure, download this pdf guide and read from page # 11 of this guide:

Q24 :   Hi Usman, I read in your website that samsung X700 supports "Dual SIM". Actually how can we do that??? Does it require some kind of accsessory for it???

SSS , (Dated :  04 May, 2007)

A24 :   You can use 2 SIMs in your Samsung X700 at a time with the help of "General double SIM card holder". This requires to cut SIM cards into specialized size to fit into this holder. Insert this SIM card holder into your mobile instead of SIM card. Once installed, you can switch over one SIM to another by only selecting required SIM.

It's option will be there under Menu/ Applications/ Dual SIM Card . There are options like SIM1, SIM2, Both on-line.
If the operating SIM is SIM1 and you have selected SIM2, then you will see "SIM Refreshing" pop-up message on your Samsung X700 mobile and then your mobile will be restarted and after that, your phone will be switched over to second SIM2.

This "General double SIM card holder" is available in the market @ 150 pak rupees. I am using this SIM holder without any problem since last 4 months. Same kind of this SIM card holder is also available on internet . Visit this link :   Double SIM Card Holder

Q25 :  Dear Usman, I read that the MP3 player's playlist holds only upto 50 tracks.. and also the player supports only one playlist.. so what to do if i am using a 512 MB card and having more than 100 tracks..? how to add all those to the same playlist....?

Ajay , (Dated :  25 September, 2006)

A25 :   You can't add more than 50 audio files to the playlist. Make new folders on memory card and put 50 files in each folder and remove all files from playlist. Then add next 50 files to playlist. This removing, adding process hardly takes 5 / 6 seconds. You can play every file without using playlist also.

Q26 :  To Usman! Could u plz tell me how to select and send many files together via bluetooth, just like the mark option in nokia phones.

Vir , (Dated : 23 October, 2006)

A26 :   It's so simple!.... Just open your desired folder either in phone or memory card .... then select any file ( but do not open it) and select "Options/send via ... bluetooth". A new screen will appear.... Select every file which you want to send with “check” on it's check box by pressing “i/ok” button for each file.... OR if you want to send all files of this folder, then press “Add All” button... then select “Send” option.... and for complete procedure of file transfer through bluetooth , read Security & Connectivity tips. Thanks!

Q27 :  Dear Usman, In X700, I don't get ring tone for incoming call on my earphones, when I listen to MP3 Player, or RADIO. Also, after I have answered the call, to continue the music I have to press "play" again for the prompt on the display. This is really bad feature; OR Any other options?

Anil R Kurup , (Dated : 30 October, 2006)

A27 :    Unfortunately, the ringtone of incoming call comes from Speakers even earphones are plugged-in and after call is ended, You have to select  Play : Yes or No .... there is no other option!

Q28 :  Hi Usman!  I am using this phone for last 6 months. Wonderful phone. Best pricing. Not a complete phone, has some shortcoming but still better than all other phones in this category even the category above this. I am writing  for this problem:

When i opens the pictures folder in the memory card and browses throu it (or any other folder) when i presses down button it takes about a second to go down. It is very very slow. My freind has the same mobile but it doesn't happen in his mobile. In his mobile, its very fast browsing. I think my firmware is too old how do i update it. Please help and  keep up the nice work. You are really genius.

Abhi , (Dated :  01 November, 2006)

A28 :    To solve slow navigation problem, transfer all megapixel or heavy sized images to PC, and change the image resolution to phone
screen resolution ...(i.e; 176 x 220 pixels) and then save again to your memory card.... because there is no need to save heavy sized images into mobile due to small screen of mobile.... Always save megapixel images to PC or CD Rom for backup.... and you can set above resolution images as full screen wallpapers! This is not a firmware issue.... the slow navigation is only due to size of images.

Q29 :  Hi ! How can I transfer my contact details from phone to SIM card. I didn't find any option.

Sandy ,  (Dated :  27 October, 2006)

A29 :   To copy contact from phone memory to SIM card , select “Contacts” in standby mode..... this will load the phone book.... select any contact name and go to “Options/View”.... then select mobile number of this selected entry.... select “Options” .... then select option no. 3 .... Copy to .... SIM  and press “Save” ... New message will appear that “Copy Completed” .... That's it.... You have successfully copied a "contact Entry" from Phone to SIM memory!
To copy complete phonebook at once from phone to SIM memory, please read Phonebook Tips.

Q30 :  Hi usman! U r doing a great job by helping us. I bought this phone a week ago. It's really good especially the camera but i have found the mp3 playback sound (through speakers) too low. I have tried increasing it from 128kbps to 320kbps but that made no use. Could u plz tell me how to increase the sound? Thankz a lot. (sumeshnair_36@rediffmail.com)

Sumesh ,  (Dated :  31 October, 2006)

A30 :  The bitrate changing to higher one, cannot increase the mp3 volume....I have also tried secret menu settings to increase the speaker's volume but did not find any difference in speaker's volume.... Try “mp trim” freeware software to increase the volume of mp3 files upto 40—50 % .... You can download this software from mptrim The sound quality of final mp3 file (played on X700 through speakers) is still  very good after increasing the volume level to +6dB.... but distortion will be increased if trying to increase dB value....
