Samsung D900 General Tips

(Page 02)

TIP # 11 : How to sort messages in the alphabetic order of CONTENT

Select inbox or any folder in my messages. From options, select ‘List by > subject’. Messages will be sorted in alphabetic order of content. If any message starts with a blank space, that will come first. Then symbols, numbers and A,B,C,D…. For sorting in the reverse order, do this once more. This helps to find out a message easily. There are many other sort options also.

TIP # 12 : To hear music while, multitasking

Open music player from ‘Applications’ , go to options…settings…"music overrides other sounds" , select  ‘ON’. You can hear music while you:

1.browse the menu, in general

2.view/edit contacts/call log

3.view/create messages

4.use the wap browser

5.view images in downloaded/favourite image folders& memory card

6.view documents using picsel file viewer,

7.check memory

8.use calendar/worldclock/calculator/convertor/timer/stopwatch

9.use bluetooth to send/receive ANY file in any folder 10.play java games

And music player will not work when you- 1.take photos 2.record videos 3.record voice 4.view images in 'my photos' 5.edit images 6.play another sound or music file. When you select each of the above functions, the music player stops TEMPORARILY. It restarts when you close the above application.

TIP # 13 : Conversation recording

In some versions, this feature is included. So while making a call, select options and check whether it is there in the list. If not, you can try this method:
When the conversation starts, type #*22671#. A message will announce recording started. Press 'c' to exit. To stop recording type #*22672#. To pause, #*22673# and to resume #*22674#. Then go to My files/sounds/my voice clips to find the saved conversation.

NOTES:
1.enter the digits carefully.
2.DON'T FORGET TO TYPE #*22672# after conversation, or it will continue recording!!
3. I needn't say, we must use this legally.

TIP # 14 : Calendar shortcuts

While viewing calendar, press side(volume) keys to change month. If you want to go to a particular date, no need to go, options…go to…date etc. Just TYPE the date you want, while viewing calendar!  (How’s that? J)

TIP # 15 : Sending any photo via mms

Only, photos with size 640x480 or less are suitable for mms. If you select a photo with resolution greater than 640x480, a message ‘media may not be correctly displayed….’ may be displayed. To avoid this, if you want a larger photo to be sent, resize it to 640x480. To resize, select EDIT from options. The photo will be opened in image editor. From options, select ‘SAVE AS’. Save, and the image is resized. Now you can select it from ‘My photos’ and can easily send it via mms. Downloaded images cannot be edited. So you will have to select a downloaded image not greater than 640x480.

TIP # 16 : Sending video via mms

Videos larger than 176x144 may not be displayed correctly. Also mp4 videos within maximum mms size, may be too short. The best option is to select recording mode ‘Limit for mms’ , the recorder will automatically stop when the file size exceeds the maximum limit.

TIP # 17 : Advanced shortcuts

(To know more about this, refer uMenu in ‘special features’ section) To activate this, go to menu/settings/phone settings/advanced settings and select ‘ON’ or to change options, press navigation keys. But before that, you should go to display settings/dialing display/FONT TYPE, and change ‘theme’ to NORMAL. Otherwise advanced shortcut option will remain inactive.

TIP # 18 : Random wallpaper

Each time you come back to main screen from a menu function, the wallpaper changes! To select this, settings/display settings/wallpaper, change ‘theme’ to ‘normal’, then from the wallpaper list, select ‘Random wallpaper’.

TIP # 19 : How to set downloaded images as FULL SCREEN wallpapers

Any downloaded image with size 240x320 or its multiple can be set as full screen wall paper. That means, sizes from 240x320, 300x400, 480x640, 600x800, 768x1024….upto 1152X1536 (but not those with 320x240, 640x480, 400x300….etc)can be set as full screen wallpapers. Photos with other sizes, you have to resize them into 240x320 using PC studio or a suitable image editor. Portrait type (vertical) images are suitable for such resizing. Landscape photos may be much distorted while converting to 240x320. (You may crop the required part of the landscape image to 240x320.) If you resize a smaller image to 240x320, quality will be reduced.

If you want to verify yourself,  download this photo with size 240x320, this photo with size 300x400  and this one with size 560x747, all of these will fit full screen as wallpaper in your phone. Copy to downloaded images, then from options, select ‘set as wallpaper'.

TIP # 20 : How to remove operator name/numbers from the main display

For this, the wallpaper should be in ‘normal’ mode (display settings/wallpaper/normal). Go to display settings/text display /text position and select ‘off’.
